Overview
Liesing in the Lesachtal Valley (1043 m)
This friendly place is located on a crest which slightly ascends from east to west and where a steep descending rift at the western edge passes from Liesing into Klebas, a village only a few metres away in western direction. The birthplace of the famous scholar Univ.- Prof. Dr. Matthias von Lexer used to be located in that rift.
A small sign on the bridge across the stream serves as a commemorative plaque. The splendid parish church is situated not far away from the village square which is also the village centre. Liesing is culturally a very active village. The lively community stages many and diverse events. Liesing is the administrative centre of the “Lesachtal" municipality and also the valley‘s oldest (since 1429) and biggest parish. The Alpine Folk Music Academy offers many courses, stages events and is also located in the village.
