Snowshoe hike to the Oberraster Alm

The snowshoe hike to the Oberraster Alm is an ideal starting or introductory route, with little elevation gain and hardly any significant inclines.

Equipment

Snowshoes with telescopic poles, standard safety equipment (avalanche beacon, probe, shovel, first aid kit)

Directions

From Kötschach-Mauthen, take the B111 west towards Liesing. At the village square, turn right; past the Mascher inn, the municipal road leads to the hamlet of Pallas-Assing. Follow its course up to the uppermost houses in Assing. From Lienz/East Tyrol, turn off at Tassenbach towards Obertilliach/Maria Luggau and follow the road to the locality of Liesing. At the village square, turn left and drive as described above to the starting point of the hike.

Directions

Die Tour beginnt am obersten Hof des Weilers Assing. Hier weist bereits gut sichtbar eine Wegtafel auf Startpunkt hin. Man folgt nun dem markierten Wanderweg in östlicher Richtung. Gleich zu beginn geht es etwas bergauf bevor es dann in leichtem Auf und Ab bis zur Oberrasteralm geht. Ein Forstweg kreuzt den Steig zweimal, alternativ kann man auf diesem ebenfalls die Oberrasteralm erreichen. An der Oberrasteralm angekommen bietet sich die Möglichkeit die Tour Richung Norden (Mahdalpe) zu verlängern und von dort den Abstieg zum Weiler Assing in Angriff zu nehmen.
Ebenfalls möglich ist der Abstieg Richtung Oberring/Stabenthein (Forstweg) oder über den Wanderweg Richtung Liesing.
