Straniger Alm

Welcome to 1,505 m above sea level!

At the Straniger Alm, you will be treated to home-style cooking and the protected designation of origin Gailtal mountain cheese. In addition, Almbutter and smoked Schotten are produced from the milk of the cows here. The Alm is a popular stop for hikers on the Karnische Höhenweg (KHW 403) or the Via Alpina. Furthermore, it is an ideal starting point for numerous hikes and MTB tours, also providing a border crossing to Paularo in Italy.

The Straniger Alm can be reached from Stranig via a well-maintained gravel road (minibuses available upon request).

The Straniger Alm offers:
- Experience nature, unwind, and take a deep breath
- Starting point for long-distance hikes (KHW 403)
- Accommodation options (rooms and dormitories)
- Located on the cheese round hiking trail
- Warm meals
- We are happy to treat you to our homemade delicacies
