Mount Schwalbenkofel (2159 m) - Schulterhöhe (2424 m)

A ski tour to mount Schwalbenkofel is practicable during all winter months, but requires a careful choice of trace above the forest line. Ascent time from Raut 2,5-3 hours; altitude difference 900 m. During stable snow conditions and with good avalanche judgement you may go on to mount Schulterhöhe. Ascent time 1 hour; altitude difference 300 m. From Raut (access from Maria Luggau) along the summer road in a south-west direction across the wood to “Gossenwiesen” meadows, continue across the larch forest and then to the right along the north-eastern ridge to mount Schwalbenkofel (2159 m). Along the ridge of mount Schwalbenkofel and after a short descent along the summer road to mount Schulterhöhe (choose the trace carefully!). Descent by way of ascent. When descending from mount Schulterhöhe there is a short ascent to mount Schwalbenkofel.
