

Autumn does not only stand for beautiful hiking weather but also for culinary delights! In Lesachtal valley you’ll get the typical “Morende” with home-made farm products.
Time for a snack: when the trees change colour, the view gets clear and Lesachtal valley is sweet with fresh bread! Every year on the first weekend in September there is the Lesachtal valley Village and Bread Festival, where different kinds of bread are offered, baked by Lesachtal valley farmers’ wives. The home-made bread is also the basis for the “Morende”. This is the typical snack, offered usually in the afternoon or in the evening with regional products. Of course bacon, different types of cheese and above all the fresh bread should not miss. There are also liver sausage and various curd cheese spreads – of course home-made! Also cooked food is offered. It is prepared with local products and base on old recipes (Schlipfkrapfen, …). Lesachtal valley lies in the intersection of three cultures (Italy, Slovenia, Austria), which explains all the culinary creations. Four inns organize together the “Culinary Hike”, which takes place every Wednesday!
