The Carnic high-alpine trail or „Peace trail“, (KHW 403) follows the whole Carnic ridge running along the border between Austria and Italy. Going from Sillian to Arnoldstein the trail is about 155 km long. The mostly hiked part goes from Sillian to Plöckenpass.
The alpine long-distance trail leads through very beautiful and diversified landscapes. The multitude of mountain forms is based on the complex geological structure of the Carnic Alps. Therefore along the way between Sillian and Nassfeld has been installed a Geo-Trail (geological nature trail). Informative boards explain the geology of the mountains. But there’s still more: the alpine flora and fauna is as multiple as the structure of the rocks.
